Chase and LivingSocial Award PlanetReuse with $250,000 Grant

PlanetReuse, a member of the bizperc coworking space here in Kansas City, among 12 other startup businesses, was awarded a $250,000 grant from Chase and LivingSocial earlier today.

Twelve small businesses from across the nation received $250,000 grants through Mission: Small Business, a program designed to increase awareness of the important role small businesses play in local communities.  The grant program is supported by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Nearly 70,000 businesses registered for the grant program and 3.1 million consumers voted for their favorite small businesses.  Lucky for PlanetReuse, the Kansas City-based startup has an incredible following, business idea and attitude and was able to claim one of the twelve grants!

Companies that submitted were evaluated based on applications that displayed a feasible growth plan, creativity, overall passion for the business and potential to make a positive impact in the local community.  PlanetReuse has joined other businesses such as Bright Power (New York), The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen (San Francisco, CA), Lasher Sport (Anchorage, AK) EcoScraps (Provo, UT) and six others in Mission: Small Business.

PlanetReuse is a consulting and brokering company that matches materials with designers, builders and owners to serve LEED efforts and sustain the planet while cutting costs.  The startup's green initiative, dynamite team and incredible business idea is attracting investors from near and far.

So what is PlanetReuse planning to do with the $250,000 grant?  According to founder Nathan Benjamin in a PlanetReuse blog, the startup plans to use the funds to continue to build the reuse industry, reuse economy and expedite the outreach and accelerator of the company's launch of PlanetReuse Marketplace powered by InvenQuery.

We could not be more proud of our coworking space member, PlanetReuse!  Just another testament that that Kansas City startup scene truly is flourishing.
